Aegis® nylon jacket compounds are designed to provide protection from physical and chemical damage during installation and throughout the service life of a wire. When a nylon jacket is used to protect insulation, the thickness of the insulation can be reduced. The resulting smaller outside diameter allows for installation of more wires in a given size conduit.
Aegis® nylon jacket compounds are formulated to offer excellent processability, making them suitable for use on any manufacturing line. As part of a wire or cable construction, Aegis® nylon jacket compounds help enable wire and cable producers to attain UL certifications and markings for their products.
Benefits
- Excellent protection from grease, oil and gasoline
- Abrasion, cut and impact resistance
- Extra flexibility for cold and dry environments
- UL QMTT2 Listed (building wire applications)

Material Handling
Maximum Water Content: 0.12%
Aegis® H55WCX nylon compound is supplied in sealed containers and drying prior to processing is not required. However, high moisture is the primary cause of processing issues. If drying becomes necessary, a dehumidifying or desiccant dryer operating at 70°C (158°F) is recommended. Drying time is dependent on moisture level.Melt Viscosity vs Temperature
Melting point, ASTM D-738: 220°C (428°F). The recommended melt temperature range is 240-275°C (464-527°F).
Typical Extrusion Temperature Profile
